Heritage designation

Heritage designation is a mechanism for conserving significant heritage resources in

Ontario. Parts IV and V of the Ontario Heritage Act allow for both individual and district-type designations respectively, which publicly recognizes the value of heritage resources and provides a process for mitigating change by ensuring that these values are upheld during development.
