Energy Conservation and Demand Management Plan

The Town has been working with the consultants at Tree House Energy Services to develop an Energy Conservation and Demand Management Plan (CDM Plan). The Plan complies with Regulation 25/23 Broader Public Sector: Energy Reporting and Conservation and Demand Management Plans. This regulation falls under the Electricity Act, 1998 that requires public agencies to prepare, publish, and implement energy conservation and demand management plans. 

The CDM Plan documents annual energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions resulting from municipal operations, and describe previous, current and proposed measures for conserving and reducing the amount of energy consumed. The plan will help the Town manage municipal demand for energy by forecasting of the expected results of current and proposed measures. Every 5 years the plan will be renewed where the progress in energy conservation and other reductions since the previous plan will be summarized.

Partners for Climate Protection (PCP) Program

The Partners for Climate Protection (PCP) program guides municipalities through a Five-Milestone Framework to help them take action on climate change by reducing local greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. The Town has recently completed  Milestones 1 and 2 by building off the data collected in the CDM plan. Milestone 1 focused on creating a greenhouse gas emissions (GHG) inventory. Milestone 2 focused on setting an emissions reduction target based on the data collected in Milestone 1. The next step will be working towards Milestone 3, creating a Climate Change Action Plan

Corporate Greenhouse Gas Emissions Management Plan

 

The Corporate Climate Action Plan focuses on emissions and climate risks associated with Town-owned buildings, facilities, vehicles, streetlighting, and other municipal infrastructure and operations. It establishes a clear, evidence-based roadmap for reducing corporate greenhouse gas emissions while aligning with asset management, budgeting, and service delivery priorities.
