Another productive week of work has passed for the Downtown Reimagined Project! Crews have completed watermain and service installation on Elm Street, west of Mountain Street, aside from testing, final connections, and restoration, which will be completed at a later date. The team has since moved east of Mountain Street, installing watermain and sanitary laterals as they work toward Main Street East. Because this work is close to the Elm Street and Mountain Street intersection, traffic control and police presence remain in place to support safe traffic movement through the area.

To help all those impacted by the recent flooding, the Town of Grimsby has worked with partners at the Niagara Region to increase waste services for our residents.

Over the past weeks, Grimsby experienced significant rainfall that required a coordinated municipal response. Our focus remains on addressing the needs of our community while recognizing the broader regional impacts. For those residents dealing with flooded basements, damaged belongings and impacts from flooding, we appreciate the frustration and impacts that this has had.

With the recent heavy rainfall and reports of flooding, the Town of Grimsby would like to provide additional information for our residents.

Please be advised that Woolverton Road between Main Street W. and Ridge Road W. is closed to all through traffic beginning at 12:30 p.m. today, August 4, 2026. The road is expected to reopen at approximately 4 p.m.

Please avoid the area and use alternate routes where possible.

Town of Grimsby Public Works crews are actively responding to localized flooding and stormwater issues across the community from recent heavy rainfall.

Because this work is close to the Elm Street and Mountain Street intersection, additional traffic control and police presence have been added to support safe traffic movement through the area. 

In observance of the upcoming Civic Holiday, please be aware that Town Hall, the Grimsby Museum, the Grimsby Public Library, the Grimsby Public Art Gallery, the Major Refrigeration Peach King Centre, and the Operations Centre will be closed Monday, August 3^rd.
