Town Staff will be distributing complimentary Solar Eclipse glasses to residents on a first come, first serve basis, while supplies last.
On Monday, April 8th, a Total Solar Eclipse will take place over southern Ontario, with the moon passing between the Earth and the sun, blocking the sun completely and turning the sky dark enough to see the stars.
At the Council meeting on Tuesday, February 20th, Town Council approved the 2024 budget with a 4.9 per cent increase to the Town’s portion of the tax levy, 1.16 per cent reduction on the Town’s wastewater tax levy, for an overall property tax increase of 4 per cent when combined with the regional and educational levies. The 4.9 per cent increase to the Town’s portion of the tax levy excluding wastewater results in residential property taxes increase by $67 per year ($5.60 a month), for an average residential household assessed at $442,000.

West Lincoln Memorial Hospital (WLMH), a Hamilton Health Sciences (HHS) hospital, is being rebuilt to accommodate the growing health care needs of west Niagara’s communities. Public support of the new hospital has been overwhelmingly positive, as local residents acknowledge this important endeavour and have demonstrated unwavering commitment to the redevelopment project.
The 2024 Rural Ontario Municipal Association (ROMA) Conference was held in Toronto, Ontario from January 21-23, 2024. The ROMA conference is a yearly event, which brings municipalities together to discuss best practices and share industry knowledge. The format also allows municipal representatives and ministries to meet and discuss the municipalities’ strategic priorities, advocate for local issues, and discuss program and funding partnerships.
