It’s been a big week for the Downtown Reimagined project! Directional drilling beneath Forty Mile Creek was successfully completed on Wednesday, marking one of the most technically complex milestones of Phase 1. Crews have now transitioned to open-cut watermain installation on Elm Street between Forty Mile Creek and Gibson Street.
The Town of Grimsby's Final Draft Official Plan is now available for public review and will be presented for consideration and adoption at the Council meeting on Monday, July 13, 2026. The Final Draft Official Plan reflects several years of technical analysis, policy development, and extensive community engagement.
A historic milestone has been reached as the new Grimsby GO Station begins construction. Minister of Transportation Prabmeet Sarkaria and MPP Sam Oosterhoff joined Mayor Jeff Jordan, Members of Council and Town staff in announcing this exciting development. This new station will reduce gridlock and help commuters decrease travel time between Niagara Region and GTHA, eliminating the need for Grimsby residents to travel 30 minutes to reach their nearest GO station while increasing regional connectivity and economic growth. The expected opening date for Grimsby GO is slated for summer 2027.
The Youth Room at Major Refrigeration Peach King Centre opens Tuesday, July 7! Designed for youth ages 12–18, this free drop-in space is the perfect place to hang out, meet up with friends, play games, study, or simply relax in a welcoming environment created with youth in mind.
Construction is officially underway on Elm Street, and the next two weeks bring some of the most significant and visible work to date.
Like many across our community, the Town of Grimsby was also impacted by today's power outage. Power has now been restored, and all Town facilities have returned to normal operations.
In observance of Canada Day, please be aware that Town Hall, the Grimsby Museum, the Grimsby Public Library, the Grimsby Public Art Gallery, the Major Refrigeration Peach King Centre, and the Operations Centre will be closed Wednesday, July 1st.

Please be advised that the Regional Road 512 east bound lane, Regional Road 81 sound bound lane, and the Regional Road 81 west bound lane will be temporarily closed to through traffic for Jerry's Peachbud 10K, 5K, 1K Running / Walkathon on Tuesday, June 30th from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. (weather permitting).
In case you missed it, the Downtown Reimagined Project has officially reached a milestone years in the making. The official Groundbreaking Ceremony on June 22 marked the formal start of construction in Grimsby's downtown core, a proud moment that brought together residents, businesses, Town staff, and project partners.
