You can pay your property taxes at Town Hall on 160 Livingston Ave. We accept cash, debit, cheques, bank drafts, or money orders. We do not accept credit card payments at Town Hall. To make a credit card payment, please see the credit card option.
Cash Payment Limit
For the safety and security of our customers and staff, the Town does not accept cash payments exceeding $5,000 per account. Cash payments up to this limit may be made at our service counter. For amounts greater than $5,000, customers are asked to use an alternative method of payment, listed above, or another approved payment option. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation in helping us maintain a safe and secure payment environment.
Limited Coin Acceptance
According to the Canadian Currency Act (https://laws-lois.justice.gc.ca/eng/acts/C-52/page-1.html#s-8.) , Section 8 (2) acceptance of coin as payment is limited as follows:
(2) A tender of payment in coins referred to in subsection (1) is a legal tender for no more than the following amounts for the following denominations of coins:
- (a) forty dollars if the denomination is two dollars or greater but does not exceed ten dollars;
- (b) twenty-five dollars if the denomination is one dollar;
- (c) ten dollars if the denomination is ten cents or greater but less than one dollar;
- (d) five dollars if the denomination is five cents; and
- (e) twenty-five cents if the denomination is one cent.
Town staff are not required to accept coin in denominations greater than these. Please be mindful that if paying with coin, you will be required to utilize other payment methods (Canadian cash notes, debit or cheque) to complete payment if your coin values exceed the prescribed maximums.
