Heat Warning Issued for Northern Niagara Region from July 8 to 9

Environment Canada has issued a Heat Warning for Northern Niagara Region, with hot and humid conditions forecasted for today, Monday, July 8, 2024, through Tuesday, July 9, 2024.

Daytime highs are expected to be near 31 degrees Celsius with humidex values of 35 to 38. There will be little relief through the overnight as lows are expected to be 20 degrees Celsius or above. A cooler airmass is expected to arrive Tuesday night.

Staying Healthy and Safe During Extreme Heat

Environment Canada issues heat alerts when:

  • The humidex is 40°C or higher for two consecutive days

  • Daily temperatures are expected to reach 31°C or higher and overnight temperatures are at least 20°C or higher, for two consecutive days


Public Health lists at-risk populations and ways to protect yourself during a heat warning.
