Flood Support Programs

Severe rainfall and flooding can create significant impacts on the lives of residents, families and businesses across the community. In recognition of this, the Town has provided a list of community supports to assist those who have been affected by these conditions.

GBF Community Services

GBF Community Services assists individuals and households in meeting their basic needs. Through their programs, they have been helping the Grimsby community in achieving self-sufficiency for more than 58 years.

Residents who have been impacted by flooding and are experiencing challenges with food resourcing or basic cleaning supplies can contact GBF to learn about their assistance programs:

YMCA of Niagara

Free access to health, fitness and aquatics facilities for anyone impacted by the flooding, including access to showers and welcoming spaces to take a break.

Samaritan's Purse

Samaritan's Purse follows the example of the Good Samaritan, providing aid to hurting people-victims of war, disease, disaster, poverty, famine, and persecution regardless of their religious faith, race, gender, or socio-economic standing.

Their Disaster Relief Unit is stationed at New Hope Church Niagara West 2831 Niagara Regional Rd 81, Jordan, Ontario.

ATTCH Niagara

ATTCH Niagara provides extensively trained therapists to assist those needing assistance with trauma, attachment, suicide risk assessment, and intervention and prevention and bring mindfulness and understanding in how trauma and attachment affect the brain and body.

Ontario Works/Emergency Assistance

If you are experiencing financial hardship and need support with basic needs such as food or housing, you may be eligible for Ontario Works or Emergency Assistance through the provincial Ontario Works program.

Emergency Assistance is a Provincial program that provides short-term financial assistance to individuals or families experiencing an emergency who are not currently receiving Ontario Works (OW) or Ontario Disability Support Program (ODSP) financial assistance.

The provincial Emergency Assistance benefit may be considered where the situation has resulted in an immediate financial crisis and the individual or family does not have sufficient resources to meet essential basic or shelter needs.

Emergency Assistance is not a universal benefit available to everyone affected by flooding or other disasters. Applicants must meet financial eligibility requirements.
