Tax Payment Options

The Town of Grimsby offers a number of ways to pay your property taxes:

 In person
You can pay your property taxes at Town Hall on 160 Livingston Ave. We accept cash, debit, cheques, bank drafts, or money orders. We do not accept credit card payments at Town Hall. To make a credit card payment, please see the credit card option.

Cheque

Make your cheque payable to the Town of Grimsby. Please write your property’s roll number on the front of the cheque and include the applicable tax stub. Cheques may be post-dated to the installment date. No cash payments please. We do not mail out receipts; your cheque is considered your receipt for payment.
 After-hours drop box
There is an after-hours drop box located at the front entrance of Town Hall.

Cheque

Make your cheque payable to the Town of Grimsby. Please write your property’s roll number on the front of the cheque and include the applicable tax stub.  Post-dated cheques
We accept post-dated cheques corresponding with the amounts and due dates printed on your tax stubs. Please include the tax stubs with your cheques. Post-dated cheques can be mailed, dropped off in person, or deposited in the after-hours drop box.
 Pre-authorized payment plans
 We offer two pre-authorized payment plans:
  • A ten-month plan, withdrawing payments on the 15th day of the month from January to October
  • An installment date plan, withdrawing payments on the regular installment due dates

 Financial institution

Payments may be paid at any branch or ATM of all major banks or other financial institutions. Payments may also be made by telephone or online banking. You will need your 19-digit tax roll number from your tax bill to setup electronic banking.

When entering the roll number, do not include spaces, periods or hyphens.

Payments made through your financial institution can take up to 3-5 days to reach us which may result in payments not being received until after the due date. In such cases, late penalties will apply. 

 Credit cards

Paymentus, a third -party payment service provider, allows you to use your Visa or MasterCard to make payments more conveniently through their secure online system. To make a property tax payment, please visit Paymentus, or call 1-877-755-6386.

Services charges will apply to payments made through this system.

Service fee

A service fee of 2.50% of the amount paid is levied by Paymentus for each transaction. Please note, the Town of Grimsby does not receive any part of the service fee.
