2025 Water Meter Replacement Program
The Town of Grimsby has contracted Neptune Technology Group to replace approximately 2,100 aging water meters with new meters at Grimsby residences. There is no cost to property owners for this exchange.
Water meters are the property of the Town of Grimsby and replacement is required for aging meters to ensure the accuracy of water bills and to improve meter reading efficiency. This work will be taking place over the next few months are expected to be completed by fall 2025.
Meters requiring replacement are primarily touchpad meters which are read by Town staff using a handheld device. If your meter requires replacement, you will receive notification containing instructions for booking your appointment. If you are a tenant, please contact the building owner when you receive this information.
What to expect during your meter exchange appointment
The replacement for your meter will take approximately 30 to 90 minutes and will require the water to be shut off and then turned back on by Neptune Technology technicians during that time. Someone from your household who is at least 18 years of age must be at home during the appointment.
Before the arrival of the Neptune Technology technicians, please ensure the area around the existing water meter is clear and accessible, and leave ample room for technicians to work. Your existing shut-off valve should be located where the water service comes into your house.
