Another week of progress on the Downtown Reimagined project sees crews continuing watermain installation on Elm Street between Forty Mile Creek and Mountain Street.

Following yesterday's significant rainfall, Public Works crews continue recovery efforts across the community by clearing debris, inspecting and cleaning catch basins, addressing localized drainage concerns, and ensuring municipal roads and infrastructure remain safe.

On July 13, 2026, the Council adopted a new Official Plan and was prepared in accordance with the Planning Act. The adopted Official Plan is available online at: www.letstalkgrimsby.ca/officialplan.

Following today's significant rainfall, Town of Grimsby Public Works crews are actively responding to localized flooding and stormwater issues across the community.

Another productive week for the Downtown Reimagined Project as watermain and service work kept moving along on Elm Street, west of Forty Mile Creek. That stretch of work is on track to wrap up by the end of the week despite progress being a little slower this week due to extreme heat and air quality, as well as poor trench conditions.

Environment Canada has issued an Orange Air Quality Warning and a Yellow Heat Warning for Grimsby, with today's Air Quality Health Index reaching Very High Risk due to wildfire smoke. Environment Canada is advising residents to limit time outdoors and to reschedule or cancel outdoor sports, activities, and events. 

The Town of Grimsby has completed the development of its Transportation Master Plan (TMP), a long-term strategy that will guide how the Town plans, designs, delivers, and maintains transportation infrastructure over the next 20+ years.The completed Transportation Master Plan is now available for a 30-day public review period.

Environment Canada is calling for a prolonged period of heat starting Monday, July 13 and is expected to last until the evening of Wednesday, July 15 or possibly into Thursday, July 16. Tuesday will mark the peak of this heat event, potentially reaching maximum temperatures of 36 degrees Celsius in some areas.

It’s been a big week for the Downtown Reimagined project! Directional drilling beneath Forty Mile Creek was successfully completed on Wednesday, marking one of the most technically complex milestones of Phase 1. Crews have now transitioned to open-cut watermain installation on Elm Street between Forty Mile Creek and Gibson Street.

The Town of Grimsby's Final Draft Official Plan is now available for public review and will be presented for consideration and adoption at the Council meeting on Monday, July 13, 2026. The Final Draft Official Plan reflects several years of technical analysis, policy development, and extensive community engagement.
