Downtown Reimagined Project Update – July 23, 2026
Another week of progress on the Downtown Reimagined project sees crews continuing watermain installation on Elm Street between Forty Mile Creek and Mountain Street.
Current Work
Watermain installation continues on Elm Street between Forty Mile Creek and Mountain Street. Crews are also replacing sanitary service connections identified during the Town's annual CCTV inspection. Heavy rain and challenging rock conditions have slowed progress, and this work is expected to continue into next week.
Looking Ahead (Week of July 27)
Once work west of Mountain Street is complete, crews will move to Elm Street between Mountain Street and Main Street to begin watermain installation and replace sanitary laterals identified during the Town's annual CCTV inspection. The Elm Street and Mountain Street intersection will be skipped at this stage.
Traffic Impacts
Elm Street will remain open to one-lane traffic during daytime construction hours, with traffic control personnel on site. Motorists should expect occasional short delays as equipment moves through the work area. No detours are anticipated.
Downtown Grimsby remains open and vibrant, with the Construction Passport program running until September 30 and the Construction StoryWalk continuing until August 28.
