The Grimsby Basement Flood Protection Program (FPP) is in the early phases of development with plans to provide rebates to residential property owners who install flood protection measures within their homes. If approved by council, the program will look to begin in Q1 2027, subject to funding.
With the possibility of heavy rain during the summer months, we want to make sure residents know the best way to reach us if flooding or storm-related concerns arise. The Town has added a dedicated flooding option to our Report an Issue tool, making it easier to report basement flooding and other municipal storm-related concerns.
The recent flooding events in Grimsby have had a significant impact on our community. We know that for some residents, this has meant much more than water on a road or in a yard. It has meant flooded basements, damaged property, difficult clean-up, unexpected expenses and a great deal of stress and uncertainty.
Following recent widespread flooding across Niagara, temporary enhanced waste collection services are available to Grimsby residents whose properties have been affected by flooding.
To help all those impacted by the recent flooding, the Town of Grimsby has worked with partners at the Niagara Region to increase waste services for our residents.
Over the past weeks, Grimsby experienced significant rainfall that required a coordinated municipal response. Our focus remains on addressing the needs of our community while recognizing the broader regional impacts. For those residents dealing with flooded basements, damaged belongings and impacts from flooding, we appreciate the frustration and impacts that this has had.
