Grimsby Town Council is governed by a Mayor and eight councillors who serve a four-year term. The current term of council runs from December 2018 - November 2022.

The mayor is elected at large and the councillors are elected by ward. The town is divided into four wards with two councillors elected in each. To find out what ward you live in, click this link to access the Town's ward locator.

Council meeting schedule

Grimsby Town Council generally meets on the 1st and 3rd Mondays of each month. All meetings are open to the public and televised on YourTV Ch. 700 across the Niagara Region on the Wednesday following a Monday meeting at 1:00 PM. (For Grimsby Town Council meetings delayed by a holiday Monday or schedule change, the broadcast time on YourTV would be later that same week)

Speaking at council as a delegation

Residents wishing to appear before council as a delegation must put their request in writing. Contact the Town Clerk directly to make your request.

The deadline to submit a request to speak before council as a delegation is the Friday prior to the upcoming council meeting. For more information please read the Procedure and Guidelines for delegations at council meetings.

Code of Conduct for members of council

In addition to their statutory responsibilities under the Municipal Act, the Mayor and Councillors are subject to the Code of Conduct for Members of Council.

Standing committees

Four standing committees have been established that report into Town Council. Most matters are reviewed and voted on by one of the standing committees before being brought before Council for final approval. The standing committee structure allows for more in-depth discussion and review of the important work of the Town.
