Pre-Consultation Meeting
Before submitting an application, applicants should contact municipal planning staff to discuss the proposal. A formal pre-consultation meeting is always encouraged. A pre-consultation meeting provides the opportunity to have early discussion on a proposal, especially for applications that may be complex or involve multiple review agencies.
Pre-consultation meetings are hosted by Planning staff, and include representatives from various Town departments and/or external agencies as required.
The purpose of these meetings is to:
- Confirm what approvals are required
- Identify any drawings, supporting studies, and reports that are required
- Review planning policies that apply to the site and expected timelines
- Flag any relevant Council decisions, and any potential areas of concern
Step 1. Request a Pre-Consultation Meeting
Step 2. Submission
Submit the form, along with required documents, which include an associated concept plan, to the Planning and Development Department.
Meetings are held the first and third Thursday of each month from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm.
Pre-consultation requests are to be submitted a minimum of 2-3 weeks prior to the expected meeting date. Our Staff will confirm the exact meeting date when we have reviewed your request.
Meeting requests can be emailed to planning@grimsby.ca
Step 3. Confirmation
Once received, Town staff will ensure the request is complete.
Step 4. Fee Payment
Following confirmation, the Town will contact you to arrange for payment of the applicable fee in accordance with the Town's Fee Schedule.
Please note that if an application is not submitted, the pre-consultation fee(s) are not refundable.
Pre-consultations for minor variance applications are not charged a separate pre-consultation fee.
Step 5. Scheduling
A meeting date will then be scheduled, and the information will be circulated to internal departments and external agencies for review. While we strive to process applications in a timely manner, high volumes of applications can result in delays to the meeting schedule.
