Skating

Skating is a great recreational opportunity for families, groups, and individuals alike! The Town of Grimsby has a a variety of different options to get you out on the ice. All Skating takes place at the Peach King Centre. For up to date information for a skate, please visit our community calendar. Information regarding the outdoor rink will be updated soon. 

 Public Skating

Public skating is a great recreational outing for a family or group of friends. It’s active, it’s fun, and it’s social! Our public skates are open to all ages and skating abilities. There is a maximum of 60 skaters at a time and we are currently taking drop in registration first come first serve.

 Public Skating Rules

  • Social Distancing must be maintained on the ice
  • Masks are required in all areas of the building except on the ice
  • Proof of vaccination in effect. Please see FAQ on our website home page for complete details
  • Children under the age of 12 must be accompanied by an adult
  • Public skates are supervised by staff, but direct supervision of children is not provided
  • Properly fitted, CSA approved helmets are strongly recommended for all patrons
  • Strollers and baby carriers are not permitted on the ice
  • Skates are required on the ice
  • Sticks and pucks are not permitted during public skating
  • A full list of public skating rules is also posted at the rink
 Learn to Skate

For children who are not yet comfortable skating and want to improve their skills! This program focuses on the basics of skating, incorporating skill development, fun and games. It is preferred that participants have been on skates a few times before the classes. Coach Gail has taught many Grimsby children how to skate, come and see why her classes continue to fill! One parent or caregiver 18+ must have skates and go on the ice with the child. Skate aids will be available as needed.

 Parent & Tot Skating

Your little one is ready to lace up a pair of skates, and we have the perfect place for you to do that! Our preschool skating program offers a fun, casual skating environment that will get children skating on their own with a great big smile. The program incorporates games and songs. One parent or caregiver 18+ must have skates and go on the ice with the child. Strollers are permitted during this program, skate aids will be available as needed.

Stick & Puck

Practice your skills and stickhandle at our Stick and Puck Skate! This is currently being offered as a drop in ice time. First come first serve with an ice capacity of 40 persons. Children and Youth must be accompanied by an adult with a maximum of 2 children per adult. Full hockey equipment is required for children and youth, adults must wear skates and a helmet.

 

Cost: $5/Visit or $40/10 Pass

 Adult Recreational Skating

 An adults only public skating time. A great chance to get out and be active, or brush up on your skating again. The noon hour skate is a perfect time for working adults to sneak in a skate. 

Cost: $5/visit or $36.00/10 pass
