Civil Marriage Ceremony

The Town of Grimsby is pleased to perform civil marriage ceremonies in the Council Chambers at Town Hall and at select off-site locations. Ceremonies will be conducted by designates of the Town Clerk, on an appointment only basis. Please review our Civil Ceremony Guide for more information and pricing.

Book a Civil Marriage Ceremony

Please email marriage@grimsby.ca or call us at 905-945-9634 to book a ceremony. We recommend booking the ceremony at least two weeks in advance. 

You can book a ceremony up to six months in advance with full payment at time of booking.

Cost

If you would like to book a ceremony at Town Hall, the cost is  $335.61 including HST. This must be paid at time of booking to secure the date and time.

Cancellation

A cancellation fee of $127.50 applies to civil ceremonies. Cancellations are allowed up to two business days before the scheduled appointment.

Witnesses

If you require a staff witness for your civil ceremony, one can be provided for $28.82 (inclusive of HST) per witness.

Ceremony Times

Civil ceremonies are by appointment only and these appointments are limited in availability. They can be performed on select days, Monday through Friday, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

New Offsite Civil Ceremony Options Beginning June 10, 2025

We are happy to announce that effective June 10, 2025, civil marriage ceremonies can be booked at select Town parks and facilities.  Ceremonies are available Monday to Friday at select times.

New Ceremony Locations:

·        Centennial Park – Amongst the willows in one of Grimsby’s largest green spaces

·        Carnegie Building – A charming historic venue that is also available for small receptions

·        The Pumphouse Gazebo – A picturesque lakeside setting

Nelles Manor Museum

  • Nelles Manor Museum is available for bookings on Fridays only between the hours of 10AM and 3PM.
  • The total cost to book Nelles Manor Museum is $300 plus the Town’s Civil Ceremony fee.

Ceremonies are being held at the following locations:

·        Town Hall, 160 Livingston Ave.

·        Centennial Park, 108 Main St. E.

·        Carnegie Building, 25 Adelaide St.

·        Pumphouse Gazebo, 447 Elizabeth St.

Please note that the Town does not supply chairs for outdoor ceremonies. Speak with your officiant for further details or review our Civil Ceremonies Guide.

Nelles Manor Museum is an option for your civil ceremony on Fridays only.

Yes they can. Guests are limited to 20 people at Town Hall, not including the couple getting married.

Nelles Manor Museum is limited to 10 people, not including the couple getting married.

Please refer to the Civil Ceremonies Guide for capacity limitations for ceremonies held offsite at Town parks and facilities.

Yes, you can take pictures and video throughout the ceremony. 

Small items such as a bouquet or corsage are permitted. 

Alcohol, candles, confetti, rice, incense and other large decor items are not permitted.

They are obtained by appointment only, Monday to Friday at Town Hall. Learn how to apply for a marriage licence.

No, as long as you have a valid Ontario marriage licence, we can perform your ceremony.

The Town of Grimsby is only performing off site ceremonies at select Town parks, facilities and Nelles Manor Museum. We do not offer after hours ceremonies.
