Town of Grimsby Unveils New Street Banner Series Designed by Internationally Acclaimed Illustrator Darren Booth

A new collection of vibrant street banners is bringing colour and creativity to Grimsby's streetscape. The Town of Grimsby is proud to unveil a new series of decorative street banners created by internationally acclaimed illustrator Darren Booth.

Recognized worldwide for his bold and distinctive style, Booth has collaborated with celebrated clients including Steve Martin, Willie Nelson, and Kathleen Edwards. His work spans collector coins, product packaging, editorial illustration, and gallery exhibitions, and he has been recognized by Taschen as one of the world's top 100 illustrators.

Created exclusively for Grimsby, the banner series features two complementary designs that celebrate the Town's unique natural landscape and sense of place.

One design draws inspiration from the Niagara Escarpment, using vibrant colours to evoke the rising sun, the distant waters of Lake Ontario, and the rich greens of the Carolinian forest. The second design reflects Grimsby's lakeside identity, capturing the beauty and tranquillity of the Lake Ontario shoreline. Together, the banners create a colourful visual identity that highlights the natural features that make Grimsby such a special place to live, work, and visit.

Installed along key corridors including Main Street, Christie Street, and Winston Road, the banners are part of the Town's decorative banner program, which supports community-based, non-commercial themes that align with Grimsby's values, promote local events, and enhance public spaces.

Residents and visitors are encouraged to take in the new designs while exploring the community. The Town also notes that additional banner installations may appear in the future to support public events, festivals, tourism initiatives, and other community celebrations.
