Town of Grimsby Seeking Artist for Major Refrigeration Peach King Centre Mural

The Town of Grimsby, in collaboration with the Recreation, Facilities & Culture Department and a community selection panel, is inviting artists to submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) for the design and creation of a large-scale mural at the newly redeveloped Major Refrigeration Peach King Centre (MRPKC).

This project offers a unique opportunity for an artist or artist collective to create a prominent public artwork in one of Grimsby’s most important community spaces. The MRPKC serves as a vibrant hub where residents gather for recreation, wellness, cultural activities, and community events.

The selected artist will design a mural to be installed on an interior lobby wall within the facility. The artwork will welcome visitors while reflecting the energy, identity, and spirit of Grimsby.

Artists are encouraged to submit concepts that celebrate Grimsby as a place of community connection, activity, and belonging. Strong proposals should consider how the mural could:

• Reflect the history, culture, and values of the Grimsby community
• Recognize the MRPKC as a space for recreation, gathering, and connection for people of all ages
• Celebrate the Town’s identity, inclusivity, and community pride

Through the Expression of Interest process, a shortlist of qualified artists will be selected. One artist or artist collective will then be commissioned to complete the final mural.

Submissions will be evaluated by a selection jury of up to five members based on artistic excellence, alignment with the project vision, ability to engage a broad public audience, and responsiveness to the Peach King Centre’s unique setting. Innovation, creativity, and feasibility will also be considered.

Preference may be given to artists living or working in the Niagara Region.
