The Town of Grimsby’s Heritage Property Tax Relief Program has launched!
Designated property owners can apply for a reduction in property taxes during the application intake period between December 1st & 2nd 2025.
Protecting cultural heritage supports a vibrant community - it strengthens identity, fosters a sense of place, and delivers lasting educational and economic benefits. The Town of Grimsby takes great pride in its rich and diverse history and is committed to preserving and celebrating the buildings, stories, and traditions that define our community.
To further support designated heritage property owners, and in addition to the existing Heritage Property Grant Program, the Town is introducing the Grimsby Heritage Property Tax Relief Program. This new initiative reflects Grimsby’s ongoing commitment to safeguarding its heritage assets and promoting the long-term conservation of culturally significant properties.
Through this program, eligible owners of designated heritage properties may receive up to a 40% reduction in the Town’s municipal and the Province’s educational portions of their property taxes.
To qualify, properties must be:
· Designated under the Ontario Heritage Act
· In good repair and properly insured
· Submitted with a complete application during the official application intake period
Applications will be accepted from December 1, 2025, at 8:30 a.m. to December 2, 2025, at 4:30 p.m. Please note: Only applications received during the intake period will be considered. Incomplete, inaccurate, or ineligible applications will not be accepted.
Submissions can be made:
· In person: Grimsby Town Hall, 160 Livingston Avenue, Grimsby, ON L3M 0J5 (8:30 a.m.–4:30 p.m.)
· By email: heritage@grimsby.ca
Through this initiative, the Town of Grimsby is proud to partner with property owners in protecting the architectural and cultural legacy that defines our community.
