The Downtown Reimagined Weekly Dispatch – October 23, 2026
Current Work
Watermain installation on Mountain Street, between Elm Street and Main Street, advanced quicker than anticipated and has reached the south side of the Main Street and Christie Street intersection.
The servicing crew has also made good progress installing services along this stretch.
Looking Ahead – Week of October 26
Night Work and Full Closure: Mountain Street, between Elm Street and Main Street
Starting Sunday, October 25, at 8:00 p.m., crews will prepare the previously installed watermains for commissioning, with rolling lane closures along Elm Street and Main Street overnight. Mountain Street remains fully closed to through traffic while work in this section continues. Both crews will be on nights this week, so there will be minimal activity during the day. Crews return to day shifts in this area the following week.
Night Closure: Main Street and Christie Street Intersection
Starting Monday, October 26, for the rest of the week, crews will begin work in the Main Street and Christie Street intersection. The intersection will be closed from 8:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m., reopening every morning at 6:00 a.m.
Paving: Main Street West (Forty Mile Creek to Patton Street)
Paving is tentatively scheduled for Thursday, October 29.
Watermain Commissioning
Commissioning may begin this week. Commissioning is the process of cleaning and testing the newly installed watermains before they are connected to the existing (live) watermain. We're waiting on confirmation from the sub-contractor and will share timing once it's confirmed.

Santa Claus Parade float, walking group and volunteer applications are now open at grimsby.ca/parade.
