The Downtown Reimagined Weekly Dispatch – October 2, 2026

Current Work

Pavement restoration on Main Street East and Elm Street is complete. Overnight paving along Main Street East, through the Elm Street intersection and into the Balsam Lane parking lot, wrapped up Wednesday, September 30, followed by daytime paving on the majority of Elm Street on Thursday, October 1. Elm Street is now fully open.

A small section of the mainline trench near Oak Street remains to be restored and will be completed when Mountain Street is paved following watermain installation.

Watermain installation by directional drilling was completed on Rossmore Avenue this week, while work on Main Street West, west of Forty Mile Creek, began Wednesday.

The soil stockpile at the pool parking lot has been removed. The area will be used temporarily for additional stockpiling during upcoming night work at the Mountain Street intersections, with material removed shortly after it is placed.

Looking Ahead – Week of October 5

Watermain Installation: Main Street West (Forty Mile Creek to just beyond Patton Street)

Watermain installation will continue throughout the week and is expected to be completed by the end of the week. The servicing crew will join the work early to mid-week.

Night Work: Elm Street and Mountain Street Intersection

Crews will complete work at the intersection overnight, tentatively from Wednesday, October 7 until Saturday, October 10, from 8:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. The intersection will reopen each morning at approximately 6:00 a.m. Soil from the night work will be temporarily stockpiled at the pool parking lot, as receiving sites are not open overnight.

Once the intersection work is complete, Mountain Street between Elm Street and Main Street will be fully closed for approximately four weeks so crews can complete the work during the daytime.
