Looking Ahead – Week of October 19
Mountain Street Closure (Elm Street to Main Street)
Beginning Monday, October 19, both crews will focus on watermain installation along Mountain Street between Elm Street and Main Street.
Crews will use hydro-vac and hand excavation to carefully work around existing underground utilities. As these methods take longer than standard excavation, this phase is expected to take approximately four to six weeks.
Traffic Impacts
-
Mountain Street (Elm Street to Main Street): Fully closed to through traffic beginning Monday, October 19, for approximately four to six weeks.
-
Motorists: Follow designated detours and posted signage.
-
Heavy Trucks: Vehicles travelling between Mountain Road and the QEW must follow the regional truck detour plan.
-
Parking: Downtown parking lots will remain accessible via alternate routes, but not from Mountain Street.
-
Businesses: Downtown businesses remain open, with sidewalk access maintained throughout construction.
