Snowfall Warning Upgraded – January, 25, 2026
Environment Canada has upgraded the snowfall warning for today, with significant winter weather expected across the community.
What to expect:
- Snowfall amounts: 20 to 35 cm
- Timing: This morning through tonight
- Conditions: Reduced visibility in heavy snow and areas of local blowing snow
- Additional impacts: Lake enhancement may occur in some areas, which could result in higher snowfall totals
Wind gusts of 40 to 50 km/h may lead to blowing snow, particularly in exposed areas. Roads and walkways are expected to be difficult to navigate due to accumulating snow.
What residents can do:
- Please ensure sidewalks and roadways adjacent to your property are kept clear to support snow-clearing operations.
- If there is a fire hydrant on your property, shovel around it to keep it clear and visible for emergency access.
Snow-clearing operations:
Town crews are responding to this winter event and will address all Town roads as soon as possible using a priority sequence, beginning with primary roads and progressing to secondary roads. We ask for your patience as crews work through challenging conditions.
Snow Event Parking Restrictions
During snow events, parking is not permitted on Town roads. This allows crews to clear roads and sidewalks safely and efficiently.
Travel and safety reminders:
- Allow extra time if travel is necessary.
- Non-essential travel should be avoided where possible.
- If you must travel, ensure your vehicle is equipped with an emergency kit.
Thank you for your patience and cooperation. Updates will be shared as conditions change.
