Road Work and Access Impacts – Work Begins the week of October 5
The Town of Grimsby is preparing to begin road and drainage improvements at several locations throughout the community.
Work is expected to begin Tuesday, October 6 starting with cross culvert replacements and repair at:
- 140 Kemp Road East (local traffic only between Church Road and Mountain Road)
- 585 Sobye Road (local traffic only between Fairbrother Road and Thirty Road)
- 88 Elm Tree Road East (local traffic only between Mountain Road and Russ Road)
- 96 Terrace Drive
Additional work will follow, including spot repairs close to Kelson Avenue South/Woodcrest Drive and Bowslaugh Road/Kemp Road West, as well as the reconstruction of Hunter Road/Waterview Lane and Third Street/Temple Lane.
Construction is expected to continue for at least two months. While impacts at most locations are expected to be minimal, residents and visitors should be aware of potential access impacts in the Grimsby Beach area as work progresses.
- Third Street/Temple Lane: Temporary lane restrictions and a possible temporary intersection closure may be required. Delays should be expected.
- Grimsby Beach access: Residents are encouraged to allow extra travel time and, where possible, enter and exit the area using Park Road North. Additional detour information will be shared if required.
- Beach and park access: As part of the Third Street reconstruction, the park pathway to the lower west beach area and the immediate park area will be closed during construction. Access to the shoreline from the north end of Third Street will be affected, and access to Bell Park may also be impacted. Residents and visitors should use shoreline access on the east side of the Grimsby Beach area.
The work will improve road conditions and help address drainage concerns.
We appreciate everyone’s patience while this important work is completed.
