Over $7.1 Million Awarded to the Town of Grimsby
The Town of Grimsby has been awarded over $7.1 million by the province of Ontario under the Housing-Enabling Water Systems Fund to assist with the Town’s Wastewater Infiltration and Inflow Program.
The program aims to improve the Town’s wastewater collection systems in handling storm water. These renovations would help to prevent overflowing into basement facilities and discharge into the natural environment. This work is projected to take place over the next 3 years and would not only preserve the current infrastructure and green space of Grimsby but would pave the way for the construction of additional housing zones.
Quote:
"The Town of Grimsby is both honoured and thrilled to receive this grant under the Housing-Enabling Water Systems Fund. This over $7.1 million contribution supports our initiative to rehabilitate wastewater infrastructure to support future housing in our community. These improvements offer environmental benefits in that it is reducing the amount of wastewater that requires treatment. We want to thank the Ministry of Infrastructure and our local MPP, Sam Oosterhoff, for their continued support in Grimsby’s development." Jeff Jordan, Mayor of the Town of Grimsby
