Major Construction Moving Forward on Grimsby GO Station

An exciting milestone for Grimsby and the Niagara Region! Today, the Province of Ontario announced that a contract has been awarded for major construction of the new Grimsby GO Station, bringing the community one step closer to expanded regional transit connections.

Mayor Jeff Jordan and Members of Grimsby Town Council joined Niagara West MPP Sam Oosterhoff and Michael Lindsay, President and CEO of Metrolinx, for today's announcement, recognizing the significance of this investment in the community's future.

Expected to be completed in the second half of 2027, the new Grimsby GO Station will provide residents with more convenient access to regional transit, reducing travel times to the nearest GO station by up to 30 minutes and supporting increased service along the Lakeshore West line.

The station will strengthen connections between Niagara Region, Hamilton and the Greater Toronto Area, providing new opportunities for residents, commuters, businesses and visitors.

The new Grimsby GO Station will feature:

• One rail platform with a heated shelter and canopy
• A five-bay bus loop for GO and regional transit
• 220 parking spaces
• Dedicated bicycle parking
• Passenger pick-up and drop-off areas

Early construction activities began earlier this year, with current work including site grading, followed by excavation and platform foundation construction.

The station will also be the first GO Transit station constructed using Ontario's new standardized station design, intended to reduce construction costs and accelerate project delivery.
