Grimsby hosts first-ever Energy Summit with expert panels on the future of energy
Grimsby’s first-ever Energy Summit, hosted by the Grimsby Economic Development Advisory Committee (GEDAC) on September 13, 2025, brought together business leaders, innovators, and energy experts to explore how the evolving energy landscape will shape the future of local economies and communities.
The event was emceed by Reg Freake, Chair of GEDAC, who guided the day’s discussions and introduced a dynamic lineup of speakers and panelists.
The Summit featured two expert panels designed to provide practical insights for businesses, municipalities, and residents. Topics included technology, artificial intelligence, agriculture, residential growth, climate change, and energy evaluation programs, equipping participants with strategies to prepare now for the challenges and opportunities ahead.
Mayor Jeff Jordan welcomed attendees and highlighted the importance of collaboration and innovation in preparing for a more sustainable and energy-conscious future. He was joined by MPP Sam Oosterhoff, Ontario’s Associate Minister of Energy, Intensive Industries, who spoke about provincial initiatives to strengthen energy infrastructure and support economic growth.
Keynote speaker Kaleb Ruch, Director of Energy at Sussex Strategy Group, opened the discussion, followed by moderated panels led by representatives from Grimsby Power and 360 Energy.
Supported by event sponsors Enbridge, Grimsby Power Inc., and 360 Energy, the Summit offered valuable insights into energy innovation, infrastructure, and sustainability - aligning with the goals of Grimsby’s Economic Development Strategic Plan.
The Energy Summit underscored the critical role of energy in driving economic resilience, technological advancement, and sustainable community growth, positioning Grimsby as a forward-thinking and energy-conscious municipality.
