Grimsby Community Development Grant Supports Local Youth Organization
The Town of Grimsby is proud to support community-based organizations through the Grimsby Community Development Grant Program, a project-based grant designed to strengthen local initiatives and enhance the well-being of residents.
At last night’s Council meeting, Mayor Jordan and Members of Council, along with Town staff, had the privilege of presenting a grant to the 62 Grimsby Phantom Squadron, alongside Past Commanding Officer Captain Chris Boyle and Elisa Galle of the Sponsoring Committee.
The 62 Grimsby Phantom Sponsoring Committee supports the 62 Grimsby Phantom Squadron of the Royal Canadian Air Cadets, helping local youth develop leadership skills, active citizenship, and physical fitness. This year, the Committee applied for funding to replace an aging asphalt roof that has reached the end of its useful life and no longer meets insurance requirements. A safe and secure facility is essential to ensuring the Squadron can continue delivering its important programming.
Through the Grimsby Community Development Grant, the Town of Grimsby is pleased to provide $11,865 to support this project.
Guided by the Town’s Community Investment Policy, the Grimsby Community Development Grant Program supports projects that align with Council’s Strategic Priorities, address unmet community needs, and contribute to an overall improvement in quality of life in Grimsby. The program is funded through the Town’s year-end surplus, when available, and has been offered for the past two years to support initiatives that benefit residents.
About the Grant Program
The Grimsby Community Development Grant Program is available to:
- Registered charitable organizations, or
- Incorporated not-for-profit organizations (minimum two years)
Eligible organizations must also have a volunteer board of directors and a constitution or governing by-law that reflects best practices.
Applications are assessed based on:
- Community benefit and impact on residents’ quality of life
- How the project fulfills an unmet need or enhances existing services
- Organizational capacity to successfully complete the project
- Alignment with Council’s Strategic Priorities
Applications for the 2026 grant program opened on July 14, 2025, and closed on September 15, 2025. Eligible organizations were encouraged to apply for up to 30% of their project budget, to a maximum of $100,000. Outreach for the program was expanded this year through social media advertising, Council and committee communications, and promotion at Town facilities.
On behalf of Council and the Town of Grimsby, thank you to the 62 Grimsby Phantom Sponsoring Committee for the important role you play in our community. We look forward to the positive impact this funding will help achieve.
