Canada Day 2026 Hours of Operation & Town Events

In observance of Canada Day, please be aware that the following facilities will be closed Wednesday, July 1st:

  • Town Hall
  • Grimsby Museum
  • Grimsby Public Library
  • Grimsby Public Art Gallery
  • Major Refrigeration Peach King Centre
  • Operations Centre

 Please note, for urgent matters related to the Operations Centre outside of operating hours, please call (905) 945-9201

Reminders For Residents

By accordance with Bylaw 23-55, the use of fireworks is permitted between dusk and 11 p.m. on Canada Day, as well as the two days immediately preceding Canada Day. We ask the public to be respectful and stay safe - one spark can lead to a fire and put others at risk!

Canada Day at Coronation Park

Join us at Coronation Park (77 Main St. West) on July 1 from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and enjoy a full day of free, family-friendly activities and entertainment. Attendees can enjoy bounce houses, face painting, live entertainment, music, food vendors, and a variety of activities for all ages as the community comes together to celebrate Canada's birthday!

Downtown Construction StoryWalk

As Downtown Grimsby undergoes an exciting transformation, the Town of Grimsby in collaboration with Downtown Grimsby and the Grimsby Chamber of Commerce invite residents and visitors to experience a family-friendly construction-themed StoryWalk. 

From July 2 to August 28, 2026, people of all ages can explore downtown by following the pages of the storybook “Mighty, Mighty Construction Site” displayed at participating businesses. The StoryWalk provides a creative and interactive way for families to engage with the revitalization taking place around them, discover local businesses, and experience firsthand the community's vision for a vibrant and welcoming downtown!

Music In the Park

Music in the Park is back this July! Every Thursday for the month of July brings a new band, providing great music, good vibes, and summer fun. Stay tuned on the official Town of Grimsby Facebook and Instagram pages to find out which talented musicians will be performing each week!

Movies in the Park

Movies in the Park will be returning this summer! Join us in Coronation Park on August 7, 14, and 28 for family friendly screenings, starting at dusk. Bring your blankets, chairs, and snacks for some magical evenings under the stars!

 

GPAG Summer In the Studio

The Grimsby Public Art Gallery has officially opened registration for their Summer in the Studio Art Camps. Make a week with GPAG an essential part of your summertime plans with a line-up of epic program themes to choose from. Expand your skills and imagination, making exciting art projects in our studio with enough time for games and fun in the sun!
