Curbside pick-up instructions

1. Place holds

Curbside pick-up is for held items only and is done on a first come, first served basis during operating hours.

Place holds in library catalogue

To get books and other library items through curbside pick-up you must first place the item on hold. This can be done:

  1. Via our online catalogue
  2. By phone during library hours, see below

If you need a library card, or help placing holds please call 905-945-5142 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday to Friday or email gen-library@grimsby.ca.

2. Wait for your pick-up phone call or email

Once your holds are ready for pick-up you will be notified via phone or email with curbside pick-up instructions.

Please be aware:

  • The library will notify you when your holds are ready, by email or phone
  • You can not pick up holds until you are notified
  • Contact the library at 905-945-5142 if you need to cancel your hold

 

3. Pick up your hold during operating hours

Once you receive confirmation that your holds are ready for pick-up:

  1.  Go to the parking lot at 18 Carnegie Lane during the following hours:
    • Monday: 2 to 4 p.m.
    • Tuesday: 2 to 4 p.m. / 5 to 7 p.m.
    • Wednesday: 10 a.m. to 12 p.m / 2 to 4 p.m.
    • Thursday: 10 a.m. to 12 p.m / 2 to 4 p.m.
    • Friday: 10 a.m. to 12 p.m / 2 to 4 p.m.
    • Saturday: 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
  2. Follow the directions on the curbside pick-up signs
  3. Library staff will retrieve your materials, check them out to your card, and bring them outside where they will be placed on the table. Stay in your car until the staff member returns inside the library
  4. You may also return your materials at that time in the book drop:
    • Note: Returned materials will not be checked in for at least 3 days. You will not be charged overdue fines at this time.
    • Please do not bring any donations as we are unable to accept these at this time.

If you are driving

  1. Stay in your car
  2. Pull up to the traffic circle and wait until you get to the front of the line
  3. Call the phone number posted by the staff door/book return box and follow the instructions. Be ready to give us the last 6 digits of your library card barcode as well as your last name.
  4. If you do not have a cell phone: Please call us before you leave home and let us know when you will arrive and your car identification information.

If you are walking

  1. Stay 6 feet back from the staff door and other patrons
  2. Call the phone number posted by the staff door/book return box and follow the instructions. Be ready to give us the last 6 digits of your library card barcode as well as your last name.
  3. If you don't have a cell phone: Knock on the staff door when you arrive and then immediately stand back at the curb so that staff can come out and ask you for your name and library card barcode information.

Returning library items

Overdue fines will not be charged for any items at this time, however the library is now accepting item returns.

Our Book Return dropbox is now open:

  • Monday to Saturday
  • 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

If you need to return items, but do not have new ones to pick up, please return items outside of curbside pick-up hours.
