What is the Forest of Reading®?

The Forest of Reading® is Canada’s largest recreational reading program with more than a quarter of a million readers participating every year!  This program, run by the Ontario Library Association, consists of ten different reading programs featuring amazing Canadian fiction and non fiction works for readers of all ages.

The Grimsby Public Library encourages readers of all ages to read the Forest of Reading® nominees. Here are a couple of ways you can participate with us!

 Borrow the Forest of Reading® books from the Library

Visit the Grimsby Public Library's online catalogue to find the Forest of Reading® nominees. Just search "Forest of Reading 2021" or look up the following categories:

 Forest of Reading® swag bags

The Grimsby Public Library has created complimentary "swag bags" for the following categories:

  • Blue Spruce (JK-Grade 2)
  • Silver Birch Express (Grades 3-4) and Silver Birch (Grades 3–6)

In the bag you will find a:

  • list of the official nominated books for your chosen category
  • Reading Passport so your child can keep track of their reading progress
  • button
  • bookmark

To get your starter package from the GPL simply come to the Library during curbside pick up or during open hours and let us know which age group package you are picking up.
