Volunteer opportunities

The library has regular volunteer jobs available. Please check the current opportunities below to apply. We accept applications on an ongoing basis from teens that are looking to fufill community service hours required by schools in Ontario. Teens can get on our volunteer list for our Tech Savvy Teen program, Teen Advisory Group, or for general event and program volunteering.

March Break volunteers

Available positions and dates

The Grimsby Public Library is looking for several teen volunteers for multiple March Break activities. Volunteers can expect to arrive about 15 minutes before and after the times below. Activities include:

  • The Bubbleology Show - Monday, March 11, 10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m.
  • Giant Board Games - Tuesday, March 12, 10 a.m. to 11 a.m.
  • Scientists in School - Tuesday, March 12, 2 p.m. to 3 p.m.
  • Soli & Rob Concert - Wednesday, March 13, 10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m.
  • Scratch Coding - Wednesday, March 13, 2 p.m. to 3 p.m.
  • Giant Board Games - Thursday, March 14, 10 a.m to 11 a.m.
  • Arduino Action - Thursday, March 14, 10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m.
  • Magic Circus with the Amazing Corbin - Friday, March 15, 10:30 a.m. - 12 p.m.

Position Description

March Break volunteer positions involve any one of the following tasks:

  • Move, set-up and take down furniture
  • Take tickets and welcome guests or participants
  • Assist staff or performers during program
  • Supervise program and kids
  • Engage with families, direct questions to staff

Tax Clinic volunteers

Position description

The Grimsby Public Library is looking for volunteers to help run free tax clinics on Mondays in March and April. Volunteers would be required to:

  • Have experience completing tax returns
  • Be comfortable using computers
  • Register with CRA for EFILE
  • Help patrons complete simple tax returns whose income comes from employment, pension, benefits such as Canada Pension Plan, disability, employment insurance, and social assistance, registered retirement savings plans (RRSP's), support payments, scholarships, fellowships, bursaries or grants, or interest (under $1,000). OR, patrons who have no income

Dates

We are looking for volunteers to work at our tax clinic on the following dates. Please let us know which dates would work best for you.

  • Monday, April 8
  • Monday, April 15
