Final Business Retention and Expansion Report Now Available!

The Town of Grimsby’s Economic Development Office has released its final Business Retention and Expansion (BR&E) report in partnership with Grimsby’s Economic Development Advisory Committee (GEDAC), Grimsby District and Chamber of Commerce and Ontario Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs.

Since the launch of the BR&E initiative on May 20th, 2021, the project team has heard from the local business community regarding how the Town can support local businesses so that they can grow, create jobs and stay in Grimsby.

Data collected through the full BR&E survey and Quick Poll Survey as well as business and Council feedback obtained during Task Force Retreats informed the development of the Town’s BR&E Action Plan.

Grimsby’s BR&E Action Plan focuses on the following opportunities:

  • Enhanced engagement with local businesses; and
  • Workforce development.

Some of the specific actions related to the above opportunities include:

  • The development of a Town of Grimsby Local Business and Services Directory;
  • Continued advocacy for provincial and federal business supports; and
  • The development of a local Job Fair.

Feedback provided by local businesses will also influence the development of the upcoming Town of Grimsby Economic Development Strategy. To stay up-to-date with the development of the Strategy, visit the Let’s Talk Business page.

Thank you to all the local businesses that participated and collaborated with the project team throughout Grimsby’s first ever BR&E initiative. The outcomes will help shape our community and economy by ensuring the Town continues to engage with local businesses in a meaningful way.
