Ontario moves into Phase One of the Roadmap to Reopen on June 11 /21 at 12:01 am.

As the province continues to see positive public health trends with Covid-19, Ontario moves into Phase One of the Reopening Roadmap this Friday, June 11th at 12:01AM.

This means that the following changes will take place/open:

  • Outdoor social gatherings and organized public events for up to 10 people;
  • Outdoor dining for up to 4 people per table;
  • In Niagara Region, as part of current Section 22 orders, attestation is required that a patron is joining a table with only household members, and/or a maximum of two persons who are essential to maintaining physical and mental health (e.g. caregivers, social supports to someone who lives alone).
  • Essential retail capacity will be open at 25% capacity;
  • Non-essential retail capacity will be open at 15% capacity;
  • Religious services, rites and ceremonies may open indoors at 15% capacity and outdoors without capacity limits as long as social distancing is maintained;
  • Outdoor sports training, fitness classes and personal training are permitted up to 10 people;
  • Day camps resume;
  • Outdoor pools and wading pools may open

 For the Town of Grimsby, here are some additional updates:

  •  Essential commissioning, marriage licenses and cemetery inquiries will resume services by appointment.
  • Extended patios are in place and several businesses have already obtained permits so that they can ready to reopen.  Please watch for their updates on reopening times.
  • Day camps will begin July 5th, and registration is well underway
  • The Grimsby Lions Pool will open on Sat June 26th for public swimming and Red Cross swimming lessons.  Lessons are offered weekly this season, as part of Covid-19 schedule adaptations.
  • Outdoor fitness classes will be resuming shortly.  There are also some free fitness classes being offered between June 14-25 as part of a ParticipACTION Community Better Challenge (space is limited).
  • Outdoor field and park permits are being reviewed for programs and services that are eligible to operate.  Please note that all organized park uses require a permit.

We are all excited to see our community start to reopen.
