The Grimsby Museum was established in 1984 to serve the community as an integral part of the cultural life of Grimsby and the surrounding area. This purpose built facility includes exhibition galleries which interpret the history of the Town including the area's prehistory, the settlement of "The Forty" by United Empire Loyalists in 1787, the growth and development of Grimsby and the history of Grimsby Park - "The Chautauqua of Canada".  The Grimsby Museum is owned and operated by the Town of Grimsby.

Special temporary theme exhibitions are featured throughout the year. In addition to its exhibitions, the Museum offers additional services relative to the mandate of the Museum. These include educational programming, special events and research material for local history and genealogy. The Museum Gift Shop features Canadian gifts and books.

The Grimsby Museum gratefully acknowledges the financial support of the Town of Grimsby, the Government of Ontario (Ministry of Culture) and its members and sponsors.
