Town launches “Designed in Grimsby”: a new way for residents to share feedback on growth and development

Grimsby, ON – Oct. 1, 2018 – Starting today, Grimsby’s residents, businesses and other stakeholders will have a new way to learn about how the Town is responsibly managing growth and protecting its heritage, while also being given the opportunity to share their ideas and feedback.

The Town of Grimsby is currently developing a detailed secondary plan for Main Street East, between Nelles Road and the West Lincoln Memorial Hospital. As part of the project, the Town is committed to consulting with as many people as possible to ensure the plan reflects what residents want to see. To this end, the Town of Grimsby is pleased to announce the official launch of Designed in Grimsby, an initiative with two goals: to share information about how the Town is managing growth, and to engage with as many people as possible.

In its current form, Designed in Grimsby features a “microsite” that residents can visit from both their desktop computer or mobile device. The site is home to information regarding intensification, growth and development, secondary plans and heritage. The microsite also features two short explainer videos that provide visitors with a high-level overview of the project, as well as how intensification applies to the Town.

The central component of the site is a short online survey that allows visitors to share their ideas about how they would like the Main Street East “hospital corridor” to re-develop in the coming years. Survey responses are completely anonymous and allow residents an ongoing way to provide their feedback, and an alternative to attending a formal public meeting or open house.

Designed in Grimsby will evolve and grow as the development of the secondary plan progresses. The microsite will feature new information as it becomes available, and the online survey will shift its focus to ensure it is collecting relevant information at all times.

Results from the public engagement will be shared with council on an ongoing basis as the project progresses. Raw survey results will also be available for download once they have closed.

Residents can visit www.DesignedInGrimsby.com to learn more about the project and provide their feedback.
