This Summer at the Library...



The R.E.A.D Program


Opportunities for learning don't take a vacation at the GPL... This program uses paired reading, games, and activities, READ to help children maintain literacy levels throughout the summer. Each weekly session allows students entering grades 2 - 6 to meet one-on-one with our Summer Literacy Student volunteer. Registrants are encouraged to join the TD Summer Reading Club using books they've completed as part of the READ program.

TD Summer Reading Club
It's takes just a few minutes per visit for kids to share a maximum of 2 titles, get a small prize for each book, and enter a ticket in our weekly raffle. Kids are happy there's a fun, drop-in activity where they'll see friends, share great books, and discover cool databases!

Drop in to Win a Prize!


This fun, interactive program is for kids ages 6 - 12.
Participants share a maximum of 2 titles
per visit, get a small prize
for each book, and enter tickets in our weekly raffle.

While participating, kids can:

♥ Read books at their own level.

♥ Report on up to 5 non-fiction books

♥ Report on a maximum of 2 graphic novels

♥ Report on up to 3 bonus books (which can be juvenile or YP books
that are more than 150 pages, that is not a graphic novel).
Each counts as 2 regular titles.

TherapyTails niagara Tell Tails Reading
Tuesdays / 6:30 - 7:30 PM

The dogs days of summer continue thanks to Therapy Tails Niagara. Elementary school students will enjoy sharing a favourite book with a furry friend. Volunteers and dogs will be on hand to create a relaxed reading environment for this free drop-in program.



Digital Kids

There's lots to do at the Libray and just as much fun on the Library's website. We've got lots of great online tools and have collected them in one spot...  just for kids.  You'll need your GPL card number to access these great online tools.
